Mobile versions like Groove Coaster 2: Original Style (July 1, 2015) added two-finger play and a sound-based input mode; this version shut down on March 31, 2025.
Reader's Guide
Groove Coaster is significant as a long-running rhythm game franchise that bridged mobile and arcade platforms, with a distinctive visual theme of a roller coaster track. Its arcade versions introduced unique BOOSTER controllers, and the series evolved through numerous updates, adding online multiplayer in Groove Coaster 3: Link Fever (March 10, 2016) and navigator characters like Linka, Yume, and Seine. The gameplay centers on hitting targets to fill a GROOVE gauge, with judgments from GREAT to MISS, and a CHAIN system that triggers FEVER and TRANCE modes. The series expanded to Nintendo Switch with Groove Coaster: Wai Wai Party!!!! (November 7, 2019) and Groove Coaster: Future Performers (July 31, 2025), which introduced a 16:9 interface and story mode. A Disney-themed variant, Disney Music Parade, was released for mobile in 2021 and discontinued in 2023, later appearing on Switch as Disney Music Parade Encore in 2024. The arcade series concluded with Groove Coaster 4MAX: Diamond Galaxy (April 9, 2020), which stopped updates in 2022 and went offline on April 1, 2024.
