The story follows Beryl Gardinant, a middle-aged swordsman who runs a small dojo in a countryside village. Despite considering himself unremarkable, he is visited by a former pupil, Allucia Citrus, who invites him to become an instructor for the knights of the Liberion Order in the capital. Upon accepting, Beryl reunites with many former disciples who have become highly accomplished individuals using the skills he taught them. Beryl possesses the ability to read his opponents' next moves and counter them, making him nearly unmatched.
